First Date Ideas
Linda here again. May I just reiterate the importance of first impressions?! I'm trying to add more on this thought on the upcoming The Soil Sisters post. But for now, remember that it is important to make your first date special and memorable. If the dating does not go past the third one and things don’t work out, she will remember you as the guy who took her on a very memorable date (and chances are, she will remember it for a long, long time. If you’re lucky, it will become her standard and ideal first date). If things work out, she will always love you for making an effort early on.
The movie date plus dinner is overused. The five-course dinner is a bit too fancy and, still, common. Here’s some first date ideas that will make you stand out:
· Luxe Picnic – if the weather is fine, this is a perfect date idea. Pack up a few things, cook or buy your food, and pack up a bottle of light champagne and you’re good to go! You only need some place with a great view and usual picnic essentials (i.e. basket, blanket, utensils). Avoid the parks with a lot of children; you don’t want some kid’s baseball landing on your date’s ravioli or salad! The view and fresh air would relax both of you and take some pressure off. It is easier to be yourself in some espadrilles and comfortable clothes than in a tight dress and tall shoes.
· Breakfast Date – how often does a girl get invited on a date of floddies and eggs and warm coffee? Hardly. If she’s a morning person, then by all means, take her on an early morning breakfast date. Nothing is more romantic than sunrise, great food, and good company. This time of the day is the best time to think of deep and sentimental thoughts. Romance is somewhere in between, so give it a try. Want to earn extra points? Drive around looking for the best spot for sunrise, and then head on over for breakfast. The cool morning breeze and the beauty of the sunrise will leave her feeling heady and happy. They say that breakfast is a crucial date meal. If you want to see her again, have breakfast with her.
· Amusement Park – sure this sounds like a dating idea made for teenagers but believe me, amusement parks know no age. The happy atmosphere in an amusement park can never be matched by any restaurant or movie house. Win extra points by winning the biggest bear at the darts or shooting booth, get photos together at the photo booth, and get her an ice cream or some cotton candy. Trust me, if you played your cards well and everything on your amusement park date goes smoothly, she will go home with a childlike feeling of happiness and she will associate it with you. That’s always a good, good thing.
· Hot Air Balloon – unless she works as a ‘pilot’ for hot air balloons, chances are, the idea of a hot air balloon date is exciting for her. Bring a bottle of champagne, dress nicely, and float away in the sunset overlooking the magnificent world below. Don’t do this if she has extreme fear of heights though.
There are many ways to impress a girl, and techniques on asking a girl out on a date you just have to be patient and creative. One good piece of advice would be to try to discover something that she likes. This will give her the feeling that you are interested in her and the things that interest her. You’ll never go wrong with it. Happy first date!
